     The History Project

For several years Francine Chisholm and Shalom Coodin have been working intermittently this project.  The goal, initially, was to create an accessible way for psychiatric residents and medical students to get some exposure to psychiatric history and particularly to the history of the treatment of persons with severe mental illness.  It is not meant to be authoritative, rather it is meant to give a sampling, as well as provoking thoughts about both the past and the present.  What do we do now that may, in the future, be looked at as archaic or even barbaric and how can we avoid some of the errors committed by psychiatry in past?
